Join us for a guided tour of the Bradford Jewish Quarters on Sunday afternoon, September 22nd as part of the B’nai B’rith Europen Days of Jewish Culture and Heritage. The Synagogue will be open from 11am until 3pm.

The tour will begin at 2pm and last approximately one and a half hours. The Synagogue will be open until 3pm, then the tour takes to the streets of Manningham and beyond.

We visit the Historic Bowland Street Synagogue in Manningham, opened in 1881, the oldest surviving synagogue in Yorkshire, see the former Bradford Hebrew Congregation in Spring Gardens, see the homes of the German Jewish merchants and hear their stories, and pass places which unbeknown to the casual passer by have a strong Jewish connection, whether it be a former kosher butchers shop, the site of Bradford’s first major hospital and health centre or the building where many Victorian girls and women received their first foray into an education, through the little known 19th Century female social reformer Fanny Hertz.
