Oral History Interview Videos

Between November 2012 and March 2013 we recorded these oral history interview videos with a cross section of people with a Bradford Jewish connection.

This short feature, Recollections of Jewish Bradford is a compilation of the interview footage.

Included are:

Stefan Simmonds, a local business owner who came to Bradford from Harrogate in 1958 and is the brother of the actor and director, the late Nikolas Simmonds

Rita Dalton and her grandson Richard Dalton who are descended from a Jewish tailoring family, the Fienburghs who came to Bradford in the 1890′s and are related to the politician and author Wilfred Fienburgh.

Hanneke Dye who was born in Nazi occupied Holland during the Second World War and came to Bradford via London in the 1960′s. She was an Olympic torch-bearer in Harrogate for the 2012 Olympic Games.

Rudi Leavor, who arrived in Bradford from Nazi Germany as child in 1937, with his parents and younger sister, Winnie. As chairman and treasurer of the Bradford Synagogue he has over the years built friendships with the local Muslim Community, who have helped fund urgent repair work to the Synagogue.
